what is the healthful human?

Better yet, what does it mean to be a healthful human? It means taking care of your body, in every way. Keeping your physical and mental health at the forefront of your everyday life. Partaking in things that will give you the capacity to enjoy a higher quality of life. And it means doing all of this, in part, through good nutrition and a healthy relationship with food.

To make a long story short, I wanted to create this website for a few reasons: 1) to educate people, in the simplest and easiest ways, about what good nutrition is and the reasons why good nutrition is so important for health, 2) to share my own research and information in an attempt to clear up some of the frustratingly misleading material out there regarding nutrition, and 3) to offer resources, such as infographics, food databases, articles, recipes, and so much more, that will help people take control of their own health through improved dietary habits.

Good nutrition doesn’t have to be overly complicated!

The Healthful Human is one big, bold nutrition resource – and it’s here for you. I’m here to show you the basics, to give you the knowledge you need to make your own decisions about your food, and to offer the support you might need to make a positive, healthy change in your life. I’m here with the resources you need to become a healthful, happy human.

Eleesha is a studying and aspiring nutritionist with a passion for helping people achieve their health goals. Her undergraduate degree involved studying various East Asian languages and cultures (which culminated in a trip to Japan that she will never forget!), but ultimately, after graduating with a Bachelor’s in Asian Studies, she fell headfirst into her true passion – nutrition! Eleesha is currently set to graduate with a Master’s of Science in Human Nutrition (2018) from the University of Bridgeport and begin on the path to clinic certification as a nutritionist. Her approach to nutrition therapy emphasizes an empathetic, tailored, and personalized view, taking into account the multitude of differences (cultural, social, financial) that may affect a person’s relationship with food. Her space is a completely understanding and judgement-free zone.

Eleesha recently relocated to sunny Los Angeles, California and on most days can be found typing away on the computer with a cup of tea and a cat in her lap – or perhaps putting more time into her favorite RPGs. ♥
